My PhD project is about the effects of the invasive species brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) on native brown trout (Salmo trutta) and the ecosystem at large, specifically as it relates to the behavior and dietary niches of both species. Furthermore, the overarching aim of the project is to evaluate effects both before and after the removal of the invasive brook trout in order to determine the resilience of the ecosystem. I mostly work in natural streams in Sweden, but a significant part of my thesis work has also taken place at the HyTec flume facility in Lunz, Austria.
